valid or excuse?

i was just thinking to myself.. when i say certain things or other people say certain things.. what is the motivation behind why i say what i said or why they say what they said?

taking for example.. saying that man are falliable.. what are we trying to imply by saying that? i don't deny the fact that it is a valid and true statement to say.. but are we using it to be an excuse for ourselves to escape from responsibilities? so because man are falliable, does that mean we do not need to give our best to God? no.. it doesn't.. it's just a fact to know that we ain't as strong or capable as we think we actually are.. it's a reminder to trust God and not man.. instead we love man as God loves us..

there are actually many other examples that can be quoted.. like everyone has their down times, trying my best liao, etc.. the same principle as demonstrated above is applicable to them all and in all situations too.. some statements might seemingly be valid.. and they might also be about things that many or even everyone goes through.. but the intention of saying that statement determines whether is it an excuse..

always search our hearts and ask ourselves the motives behind why we say/do what we say/do.. then can we be walking right with God and knowing who we actually are and how to go about it to change..

"19 As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man."

- Proverbs 27:19 -

"45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."

- Luke 6:45 -

"14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."

- Psalms 19:14 -

"23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

- Proverbs 4:23 -

really don't let anything slip pass your nose and go unnotice.. even the most subtle things.. it will only continue to leech on and grow bigger the next time round.. by then, it might have caused a lot of damage.. or even worse you will have to take a long time to make things right within you and with God..

maybe you would say better late than never.. true.. but why wait? when you can do it now..

God looks at the heart more than anything else..

love,
Naomi
