改变。。。

很久以前有一个女孩，她觉得自己一定要坚强，要靠自己，不能软弱， 要像一棵打不倒的大树一样。。。 她是从挫折和伤害中开始武装自己，似乎她也在这过程当中淡忘了她需要被关心与呵护的那一面。。。就这样，时间久了，她真的觉得自己是个满坚强的女孩，可以自己照顾自己不必别人为她担心。。。



可是，发生了一件事让她恍然大悟，也让她的人生产生了变化。。。



就是她接受了主，成为了一个基督徒，至今已有四年。。。

在这四年里所发生的和碰到的人事物，让她更了解自己，也对很多的事改观。。。她发现其实她没有自己想像中坚强，她也是一个想要有人疼爱与关怀的女孩罢了，只是她把这份想要和需要埋藏起来。。。 因为对自己而言她天生不是个会有一堆人想要和她做朋友或惹人怜爱的那种人。。。但在认识主和弟兄姐妹相处的过程中，她重新地认识自己和认真地面对自己的内心。。。她也渐渐的变得乐观，看事情不再像从前那么的负面。。。慢慢的对身边的人敞开心房。。。

为什么会这样？

因为主的爱融化了她的内心。。给了她希望。。无私的包容她。。耐心的教导她。。

主所给她的一切是没人能做到或给于地。。。

也就这样改变了她，和她的现在与未来。。。


所以她要说声谢谢，无尽的感谢。。。

身在福中不知福?

are we like Adam and Eve?

focusing on that one tree that they are not supposed to eat from that they jolly well forgotten about the other trees in the garden of Eden that they have been given?

just as they are,

are we focusing on the things that we don't have and forgotten about the things we already have?

to be frank, i did.. when i was so obsessed with the idea that why i still can't find a job.. why life must be the way it is.. then i was woken up by God.. He ask me to look at the rearview mirror to see what happened during this period of time and to also understand how blessed i am with what i already have been given.. there are so many things that could not have been done.. and so many experiences that i have with the Lord.. would not have been compromised or not even happened if i got what i asked for.. the only thing i can say is that God is amazing.. and He is worthy of my praise..

so what is the cure for it?

learn to give thanks even for the smallest blessings, things that you take for granted (an example is to wake up alive) and in all circumstances

learn also to be contented


who can we learn all the above from?

He gave Himself up to sufferings, humiliations and dying on the cross for our sins.. cos He loves us so perfectly and deeply in spite of who we are and what we did.. He is Jesus Christ.. starting from yourself..

actually deep down inside us.. we have the very behaviour that we dislike or even to the extent of hate, in the people around us.. especially our family.. precisely because we know we are like them to a certain extent that's why we dislike that action, behaviour or attitude that they portray.. we are not willing to face up to the fact that we did exhibit that very same kind of action, behaviour or attitude to people.. but we have to know that that isn't the way to solve things..

so how?

we need to face up with it.. we need to know why we dislike certain behaviours, actions or attitudes in people.. if we know that it is because we exhibit them in one way or another.. then we need to know when did we learn it and why did we it..

• it may be a culture in the family, having everyone behaving in similar manner so you think it is fine to do so..
• it may be something you learned subconsciously even though you know it isn't something good to start with..
• it may be because you notice that it helps you to get your way or what you want..

there are many more other reasons to go about but you need to know your own reasons.. then can you move on to the next step.. which is to recognise that the kind of damage it has done to your life and others' lives.. then repent to God asking for forgiveness for how much you have hurt Him in seeing you hurting yourself and the people around you.. if you are truly repentant, you will know that you will have to apologise to the people that you might have hurt along the way.. not expecting anything in return.. then we are to learn the ways of Jesus and not to turn back again..

we have to realise that as human beings, we are made to learn by mimicking the people around us.. we learn behaviours, actions and even attitudes from people who have influence in our lives.. whether the influence is positive or negative.. we never fail to pick them up subconciously or consciously..

at the same time, as believers, we need to realise also that we have the power to change.. because Jesus has given us the power to overcome anything even death when He gave us the Holy Spirit that dwells in us.. He should also be the greatest influence in our lives.. that we should only learn from His attitudes, behaviours and actions.. but first we need to unlearn what we have learned and thought to be correct before we received salvation..

Mohammad Ghandi might not be a Christian but he said something that Jesus would totally agree with..

"Be the change you want to see in the world."

that's the point that Jesus is trying to say when He wants us to be a salt and light.. only by living a consistent and credible life then can you make a difference in the lives of the people around you.. that is precisely why so many people were drawn to Christ when He was on earth..

"¹⁶In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

hurted people hurt people..

we all have the tendency to hurt back the people that hurt us.. or even worse, we hurt the others after being hurt.. to us that is something we naturally know how to do.. we even have the tendency to justify or rationalise our actions.. however, we forget that the relief or even joy that we get from getting back at the other person is not lasting.. and the worse is we might feel even more empty thereafter..

so what is the right way?

we need to understand why we feel hurt by what the other person do or say.. cos what that person do or say can't hurt us unless we allow it to.. or because of wounds that we are not willing to face.. it has something to do with us and not the other person..

the right attitude to have?

grace and mercy is what we should give to the person.. whether the person wrongs us, hurts us intentionally, persecute us, etc.. cos God gives us His grace and mercy when we don't deserve it.. frankly, none of us deserve anything from anyone, not even God.. we are just trying to justify our actions.. so we really need to be truthful to ourselves..

failure vs regret..

we are all scare of failures

why?

cause it makes us feel terrible inside

so?

we avoid

we give excuses

yet?

we regret it for the rest of our lives cos of what we did not do and did not say

how?

have the right attitude and mentality when you do it

do not always expect a good outcome

if don't get then you run

then you'll never learn

the Catch is?

tried and failed is better than having to regret it cos you will never know it until you do it

PS: it only applies to things we know we ought to do or things that we ought to say out for example showing your care and concern to your love ones, speaking the truth in love to a person you cherish, etc..

Jesus took on His cross

went through great sufferings

being crucified

even pierced at the sides when dead

However,

3 days later He resurrected

sitting on the right hand of God's throne

so what am i trying to say here?

look to Jesus' example when you are suffering and you feel like giving up.. remembering that whatever testings or sufferings that we are going through here and now, there is a purpose behind and will eventually be over.. we are able to overcome them just as Jesus overcame death.. cos His Spirit lives in us..

^"42"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." ⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. ⁴⁴And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground."

Jesus was also in great distressed that He prayed to the Father to ask Him to take the cup from Him.. but the difference is He said 'yet not my will, but Yours be done'.. He chose to obey the Father cos He knows what He is going through is for a great purpose and it must be accomplished.. He prayed even more when the Father strengthened Him..

in the same way, in distressed, we should look to God in prayer even more.. seeking Him to understand our situations better.. go through it together with Him.. even as there are doubts.. hang on.. as long as you continue to hang on, you will eventually see the light at the break of dawn..

2) experienced what she have experienced

if Kate hasn't had cancer,

1) met the love of her life

2) knew how much her family loves her

3) learned to appreciate the people around her

are you thinking why must this happen to me, why must that happen to me? why not instead think about what can i learn from what happened and have a assurance that whatever that happened is for a better good..

precisely are those seemingly bad situations in our lives that allow us to learn to treasure, to appreciate, to love, to mature, to be a better person, and many many more.. so when you learn to see all these, you will realise the current situation no longer matters..

sometimes hearing other people sharing about their experiences and story, you will feel much better after it.. cos you realised you are not alone going through what you are going through.. and there might be people who are going through worse things than what you think you are going through.. then you realised that there is no point in wallowing when people who are going through worse are not.. and how fortunate you are as compared to them.. it amazes me that how comfort from God can come in this manner.. but we also need to remember that we all have our cross to carry so there is no point comparing about each's burdens.. it should just open up your mind to the things that are happening around you.. so that your understanding of things will not be so swallow to just wallow in your own world..

sometimes these 5 stages don't just apply to grief.. they can be applied when we don't get what we want or when suffering happens.. no matter which stage you are at now, i hope you can move to the last stage eventually and not stay stagnant in one stage forever..

Yet, you know that Jesus is right outside your door waiting
even though He does not press the bell again
cos He does not want to stress you

He is waiting for you to make the decision to open the door
you know that you need Him
He does not leave cos He knows you need Him

all you need to do is to open the door to let Him in
everything else will be done and will get done

sometimes we win this struggle
sometimes we give in

so what is your decision today?

my working life and colleagues...

here to update about my working life.. haha.. just ended my temp work last thursday.. worked at BMRC for 1 month and 4 days.. not very long but not short either.. i realised that time past real fast when you are working sia.. lol.. i thank God for this working experience.. it gives me a glimpse of how working would be like.. at least it prepares me before i go full time.. prioritising is really important.. it is a testing for anyone to be a salt and light at work.. so there is a real need to build our foundation well and to stay close to God.. or else we can be easily be influenced by the world..

i thank God for my colleagues in my office.. they are a bunch of friendly people.. especially my lunch kakis.. haha.. they are all around my age.. some just started working in june or july while some are temps like me.. i thank God for them.. they brighten up my life in the office.. they are a fun bunch of company..

i really hope that our friendship will still go on even after i've left.. i also hope they will get to do something they have always wanted to do.. :)

numbers...

when i was reading through the book of Numbers previously, i was like thinking why does God has to ask Moses to record all that down to be included in the bible? in fact, i find it a book that is quite hard to finish reading.. however, recently during one of the sermon when Pastor Jeff said that God takes note of anyone who give his/her best for God's Kingdom.. it struck me hard.. that is precisely the reason why so many names were mentoned in the book of Numbers or even throughout the whole bible.. God have taken note of His chosen people and people who had contributed to His Kingdom.. i was like woah, God really loves us very much to remember everything and anything that we have done..

i would be so amazed to see a book in the history that has my name in it cos God has taken note of me.. feel so honoured.. :)

just a refresher...

经一事，长一智it's always a learning experience with each mistake made

something we always forget that there is always something to learn from the mistakes (big or small) that we made each moment.. cos we might be too absorbed with the mistakes or failures in life.. let's really squeeze out every ounce of learning we can get from each experience we have or is going through..

spill over...

many people tend to compartmentalise their lives.. work, family, play, church and friends, all seems as if they have no relation to one another in their lives.. yet, we forget that how we see or do things in one aspect of our lives will spill over to the other areas of our lives.. believer or non-believer also the same, just that it is greatly magnified in a Christian's life..

examples:
a) if you have the tendency to rush your work only last minute, then usually when you handle the struggles, you will have a tendency to only learn when the repercussions are rather great and staring right in front of you..
b) if you like to plan ahead of what you want to do or have in life, you will usually become very impatient when things don't go according to your plan and might even think that God is trying to be funny with you..
c) if you are those kind of people who like to take care of things that you shouldn't be doing, then you will end up doing too much and be burnt out.. on the other hand, those who are suppose to be taking initiative would not take ownership as they see that there is someone taking care of the things already..

the above are just some examples, there are still many other examples.. look carefully at the way you handle the things in your live in the different aspects, you will be able to see the trend and the repercussions of it.. that is why the bible always say we need to look at life as a whole and Christ has to be at the center of it.. we might not be able to change on our own but with Christ in us, we can tap on His power to change..

change is hard.. cultivating a good habit takes time.. but you need to start somewhere and put in effort then can you be able to see the fruits in your life..

Are you the soldiers, who are indifferent to what Christ has done for them?

started working...

just started a temp work on Monday.. not very used to waking up and sleeping early.. now i also understand how does those working people feel.. haha.. tired after work and needing to rest early.. even though i might be doing just basic admin stuff, being in the office the whole day really drain your energy out.. lol.. however, i have quite a fair bit of things to thank God for since the start of work..

thank God for:
1) Paul Goh, my aunt's bf, who drove me to work on my first day
2) giving me a cubicle on my own so that i have my personal space
3) friendly people at my workplace
4) being able to take leave for gc on friday
5) allowing me to be able to wake up every morning for work
6) a workplace that is near my house
7) the light workload


Practicing to give thanks to God in all circumstances..

surprise...

had a birthday surprise from zhen cong and laiquin on tuesday midnight.. really very touched and happy about what they have done for me.. 6 years of friendship 不是盖的.. really thank God for them in my life.. really hope that this friendship that we have will grow stronger each time round.. and we will be friends forever.. =)

my convocation..

finally i have graduated from NTU after 4 years of studies.. haha.. very happy to have come thus far.. yet i feel burdened as there will other challenges staring right in front of me.. nevertheless, i am very happy and proud to have graduated.. =)
